Lubuntu received official recognition as a formal member of the Ubuntu family, commencing with Lubuntu 11.10 released on October 13th, 2011 which is also the release date for Ubuntu 11.10.
	Having a compact .iso image of roughly 697 MB Lubuntu can run on a Pentium II or Celeron system with 128 MB or RAM as a minimum, may yield slow yet usable with those minimum configurations. It is possible to install and run Lubuntu with less memory, but for practicality is not recommended.
